Nearest Neighbours

Our programme from 1 March will be all about our nearest neighbours in the Solar System.  Watch this page for more details.

KiwiMars - 21 Apr/6 May 2012

Only 10 weeks to go until the first KiwiMars crew makes its way to Utah to spend two weeks 'living on Mars' at the Mars Desert Research Station.

The crew will live in close quarters and restrictive conditions similar to those on Mars.  They will eat dehydrated food, sleep in 4-by-11 foot rooms and pump all their water from tanks.

While there, they will perform a range of experiments and exercises across a number of competencies such as geology, astronomy, social and behavioural studies and horticultural studies.

Carter Observatory will be the headquarters of Mission Support for the crew of six, and visitors will be able to interact live with the Kiwimars crew in Utah.

Keep an eye on our website and www.KiwiSpace.org.nz for the latest news and announcements.

More details on our Nearest Neighbours programme will be listed here shortly.
